Letter to Patients from Dr. Ron Nagel
Dear Families,
As I reflect on nearly 40 years of practicing pediatrics, I write to you today with a mix of emotions. After much thought, I’ve made the difficult decision to retire. It has truly been an honor to care for your children, and I’m deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me over the years. Watching your children grow has been one of the greatest joys of my career.
I will officially retire on October 1, 2025. Until then, I remain fully available to you and your families and will do everything I can to ensure a smooth transition of care to the other physicians at La Peer Pediatrics. Many of you are already familiar with Drs. Diamond, Crosby, and Shurin, as well as the wonderful Dr. Judy Oranika, who has been part of our team for the past three years and will continue to provide excellent care.
We are also excited to welcome two outstanding new pediatricians to our team: Dr. Daniel Maghen will be joining us on July 28th, and Dr. Niki Elyasi on September 1st. Dr. Elyasi, a Los Angeles native, is completing her residency at CHLA. Dr. Maghen, a former patient of mine, brings several years of experience from Cedars-Sinai Medical Group. It’s been a pleasure to watch him grow into the exceptional physician he is today.
For more information about Drs. Maghen and Elyasi, please visit our website.
Our electronic health record system ensures all of your child’s medical history and care details are readily available to the entire team, so you can feel confident that your child’s care will continue seamlessly. My colleagues and I are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible.
In retirement, I look forward to spending more time with my family, especially my wife Cheryl, our grandchildren, and my 90-year-old mother. I also plan to continue supporting the next generation of pediatricians by mentoring residents at The Guerin Children’s Hospital at Cedars-Sinai.
Warmly,
Ron Nagel, MD
